We hosted a pancake breakfast at our apartment so that we can all get together one last time before people get scattered for summer break!

Okinawa just got slurpee's here on island. But they only have Fanta grape and cola. It's a perfect drink to be able to enjoy during the hot summer days!

We got to go camping one last time before it gets too hot. We camped by the beach in a place called Nanjo where Brittany and I had the opportunity to paddle board and surf.

We got a Starbucks gift card from a student!

Brittany got a local drink which is the matcha tea (green tea) and I got a strawberry frappe!

Saying Goodbyes!

Class of 2021!

The cross country team that one the championship my first year. It was such a bummer that we didn't have the chance to compete again this year because I know we would have won it again!

This is Sawyer, he was the fastest runner for our Cross Country team and a such a great kid! He will be missed. He is deciding between going to Brown or Oxford to study geology. Next to him is Paul, he is a close personal from of ours. He is a bible teacher and Chapel director at the school.

Our Pastors Son Aisa graduated from his homeschooling! He will be taking class at the bible college that is apart of our school for one year when covid restrictions go away.

Our First Day of School Our Last Day of School

It has been a crazy year of teaching! Brittany starting her first year as a middle school teacher while I started the year doing a month of recess duty full time. Thank God that he was able to let me teach this year. On top of that I was starting my first semester of Masters classes. It all happened so fast. Now I am in my 3 semester of classes with two semesters left and I can say that so far I have got Straight A's in all of my classes. We are so thankful for the loving community that this school brings and the amazing students who are so flexible in times of change. It was very unfortunate the covid restrictions started to hi us again towards the end of the school year which limited our time to participate. in clubs and cancelled the last couple days of school. But we were able to teach for a full 175 day school year.

Summer Plans

Brittany and I have decided to stay here in Okinawa to work Summer school so that we can make a little bit extra money. This coming Saturday is our one year anniversary! It has gone by soo fast and it feels like we have been married for much longer. I can only imagine what it feels like for those of you who have been married for 10,20, or even 30 years. We are also thinking about going to Kyoto sometime this summer but have not made any plans of just yet.

We will keep up with our blog over the summer! If you would like to donate to our ministry here in Okinawa. You can log onto RCE's website from the url provided below type in my name "Tommy Mahaffie" and then go from there.

We love you all and Pray that you continue to stay safe during this time!
