Brittany and I's summer in the United States has come to an end. Goodbyes are bittersweet not only because we live far away from our family but also because we will be gone for a while. We can't believe how fast time went this summer.
Many of you might not know but Brittany I were very anxious for our trip back to Japan. Currently Japan has very strict restrictions for re-entry into Japan. But there are some special circumstances that immigration will allow people in. One special circumstance that we used was a humanitarian reason. My grandmother is sick and has a condition called MSA (multiple systems atrophy). This disease is a progressive disease similar to parkinson's disease. One of the reasons we wanted to return back to states was not only to get married and visit family but also to visit my grandmother who has been put in hospice. She is doing well. But it can be hard sometimes for her to communicate what she is thinking.
Re-entry into Japan
So Brittany and I will paperwork pertaining to my grandmother's disease in hand along with birth certificates and a marriage license travel to Japan.
All of the traveling went well. When we entered Japan we got tested for COVID-19 and then had to wait 3 hours inside the air port terminal before we would go to immigration. It was hard because we didn't know whether or not we had COVID-19 and we weren't sure what would happen if it said we were positive. We both did not have it and we moved onto immigration.
Once we got to immigration we were eventually pulled aside and asked why we left for America. We told them because we went to see my grandmother who is sick. And they saw our paperwork and granted us the special re-enter permission. We were both very happy!!!
We are very grateful for everyone's prayers and support during this time. We are now waiting out our 14 day quarantine in a airbnb in Tokyo set to return back to Okinawa on August 13th.
We hope Okinawa flights will still be good by the time we fly there because there as been a recent spike in cases and the governor has put a state of emergency in place. The state of emergency didn't say flights were cancelled but he did suggest not to travel or visit restaurants and to continue to wear masks and avoid crowds.
So if you could pray for us as we return back to Okinawa that would be greatly appreciated. We will keep you updated.
